In my conclusion.I have found in this research on  poverty,my questions were never answer. it was a very broad and long subject.I have learn that Poverty will always be with us no matter how you see it.I did find out ,during this research, that there are more children ,living in poverty than any other human being on the face of this earth. you would think there are more adults than any one else. Poverty is a serious matter, its like an diease that is contagious and it keeps on growing and growing. People die from living in poverty, I have seen it with my own eyes living in a  poor enviroment, is not fun.you feel like the world hates you because of your surroundings. I did,, But, I found myself from a young child living in an enviroment, were surviving from day today, month by month and hope that things got better for my Mother who had divorce my Father.

My only way  that “I” knew from growing up , was to find a way to overcome this life of living poor.sure I know that we are a rich country,so they say. but some one from the state needs a reality check. poverty still exist today. and I guess it will be with us til the end of time. I do know it makes a differnce when you have both the Parents in the home.

Writing this paper has enlighten my eyes, and has made me realize even in my right now situation, I am still bless inspite of what it looks like. I feel also as long as I continue to seek a better education,  which hopefully will lead  me to a better paying career, and much more comfortable life style.I can say I have truly come a long ways.the attitude some need to have, is that, there is someone out there living in a condition that is alot worse than me .

Recently while watching television at home, one Sunday nite. I notice this program called ” The Truth. ”  hosted by  Jeff Thomas. it was a brief talk show speaking about Our young children , living in low poverty areas, and absent parents in their lives .which has  led them to poverty right here in America. these children were being abandon by their own blood  related families, to be push out into this hard and cruel society we live in today was very devasting for these children.I could not imagine how these babies will make it, unless someone or, a organization takes them before they strave to death and die.

Mr.Jeff Thomas States, there are more children living here “today” in “America” who are living in poverty “ A Land that is supposed to be one of  the, Riches nation in the world that is not taking care of its own, but yet strives to make provision for other nations who call upon them and america, chose to push it under the rug. it time for this country to wake up.w e are heading for devastation in this nation.

I  agree with Mr thomas, because if America don’t come to their senses,if  we are not careful, we will end up like those third world countries, spitiful. Mr. thomas, stated one of the causes of poverty in America, is lack of jobs, asbent parents in the home and this leads  children  to living in the streets ,which is really sad. the program only last about thirty minutes which was good for me because, that actually gave me some thing to talk about, when I actually thought at one one moment that I chose a topic that no one really wanted to address. I am glad to know there are others in this society concerned about it to.

Poverty And Health by ,DIANE ROWLAND

Acorrding to Dianne Rowland,Poverty in the United States people with low incomes, particularly those who live in poverty, face particular challenges in maintaining their health. They are more likely than those with higher incomes to become ill, and to die at younger ages. They are also more likely to live in poor environmental situations with limited health care resources factors that can compromise health status and access to care. The United States is one of the wealthiest nations in the world, yet a significant portion of the population still lives in poverty.

I agree with Rowland, about the living conditions that some have to live because of limited resources comming into the home. There are people who cannot afford ” today” a good doctor or even filled perscriptions that is needed at the time. this begans to me a problem in peoples health, ex: Heart failure,Diabetes,Hypertension, and other medical conditions, that comes from poverty in the home.I agree with Rowland that medical resources are needed to provide adequate care to and for famlilies of lower incomes. the saddest part, is that when a child is dying from stravation and no medical care because these condition in the home.people who are able to afford a visit to the doctors office, and maintain a clean bill of health  are consider bless or fortunated, however you want to put it.when you are able to wake up to a clean house, a pantry full of food and shelter, you are fortunated. But not everone is able to make that statement. it would be nice if we all in this country could live a decent life with out having problems of being without and stricken by poverty.

Poverty in America:American Dream Now a Nightmare for Millions By William Shanley

According to Global Research Internet Article, The so-called “wealthiest most abundant nation on Earth” now has the widest gap between rich and poor of any industrialized nation.(America). the article goes on to say that same  one dollar bill in America, spent in the Carribean, Latin America and Asia buys what $3.00 or $4.00 does in the U.S means the quality of life for tens of millions of Americans is now on apar with huge populations living in the developing world. ( this does not sound good at all ) .are you aware that Twenty five million Americans now depend on emergency food aid. this rapidly increasing trend is a brutal reminder of how the extreme political right has eviscerated the social safety net in the U.S.

Poverty in America  to me,is becomming a scary situation  day by day.  what was once a land floating in milk and honey, is now being destroy right before our own eyes if someone or something don’t change it . if we are not careful, America will end up like one those third world country in deep trouble. even we have our middle class, and the rich living in a fear like stage bec ause no one really knows whats getting ready to happen, in this country. we new  a mricale or some kind of hope to ensure this society to be encourage.

its truly sad that we all have to suffer like this, when this country goes to the extreme to help others, in their dying situation,( thats ok too) but, the assitance is needed here badly and this system is over looking  what really matters . we are hurting . people are losing their jobs, their homes and the sad thing about this, its going to get worse. we do need a miracle. American was once a very strong nation, she needs to wake up and smell the coffee.

The Singer Solution to World Poverty by :P eter Singer, and Singer’s not-so Persuasive Solution To World Poverty by : Greg Schaefer

Peter Singer, shares with his audience  about a paticular brazilian film  callled “Central Station .”He ” ( Singer) quotes about a retired schoolteacher, by the name of “Dora” who is trying to make her ends meet by, writing letters for, illiterate people. Singer quotes,”that Dora”  has a opportunity to make a thousand dollars by persuading a homeless boy  to follow her  at a house where she received instructions, to take him and will get paid for her job. Dora then goes and purchase herself a tv, that she was longing for.however, she (Dora )  realize “after talking to her neighbors, and was told  the boy was going to be killed, for organ donations Dora then has a different feeling about the hold matter.Singer quotes ,in the next morning, Dora, resolves to take the boy back after she had spent some of her earnings.

then Peter Singer, quotes “that the average family in the united states, spends almost one third of their earnings” He, ( Singer ) quotes “Americans spend their earnings on extravagant items  that are not really needed” Singer quotes, that Americans should send all of their extra earnings to foreign countries, regular instead of  things not needed.Singer states that American already have enough tvs in their homes, and they are upgrading to new ones, the money that is spent on items like that, should be sent to brazilians to help save lives of children in need.Singer speaks about a New york unversity phiosopher Peter Unger, who wrote a book in the year of 1996 “Living High and Letting Die” who states, about a man name bob who is retired and owns a Bugatti that is very valuable, and He( Bob) would live comfortable during his retirement. Unger states that Bob parks his bugatti next to a railway siding to go for a walk and he see a child far off and a runaway train comming at the same time,Unger states that Bob is able to alert anyone about the child but, can stop the train from comming by throwing the switch which will save the childs life.Bob decides not to throw the switch,so the child gets kill and Bobs Bugatti is save.Unger states, Bob’s conduct ,most of us will immediately respond, was gravely wrong.

Greg Schaefer, quote that ” Everday wealthly American consumers  buy big -screen tvs ,tv’s for their bathrooms,$100,000 Mercedes,DVD players to go in their brand new Mercedes, and countless other luxury items.Schaefer states,Peter Singer, in “The Singer Solution to World Poverty,” argues that there is no reason why these Americans and every other American who can afford to does not donate to the needy.Schaefer states these hypothetical situations are fairly persuasive in getting the reader to want to donate, but the argument loses its strength.Schaefer states,  ”Singer” , had the audience convince  for a moment until in the latter  part of the reading, that Americans should send all of their earnings out of this country, to another country and he ( Singer ) had place a certain amount of  two hundred dollars to send off.Schaefer states ,”the first hypothetical situation comes from the brazilian film,Central station, and involves a retired schoolteacher,Dora, who has the opportunity to make a quick thousand dollars.the second hypothetical situation that Singer, uses in his argument is taken from the philosopher Peter Unger’s book, Living and Letting Die.a man Bob has just spent the majority of his savings on a rare and valuable old car, a Bugatti.bob parks his Bugatti one day by a railroad track and gets out for a walk.he sees a runaway train speeding down the tracks, heading towards a child off in the distance.Schaefer states, Bob now has a choice.he can flip the switch which will redirect the train away from the child and towards his Bugatti. He decides not to flip the switch and as a result the child dies and the Bugatti is not harmed.

After reading The Singer Solution to World Poverty by Peter Singer, i think Dora, was probably like any other retired person, trying to make a few extra dollars for herself ,so she could have the opportunity of buying herself  a new tv. not realizing the job she had to do,will cost a homeless child his life. but, she had enough sense to think about what was most important, selling this child so the peddlers could make money off the organs, how cold.Dora from her heart chose to return what money she spent, to get the boy back.i did not agree with the way Singer was trying to persuade the readers, that due to lack of support from the American , that was the reason why brazilian children suffer like they do.why do Americans Have to take their earnings and send it to another country ? ,yes, i agree that we should donate to hep the poor,But Americans have their own poor children that they, need to donate to. Singer also try to use Bob who was close to retirement,he chose to buy a Bugatti, that is suppose build in value as years go bye, and he would be able to live very comfortable. well my opinion, Bob is a cold person,he should be making donation to the needy children “instead ” he would rather see this strange child kill, by a train then to flip the switch because of a material object. it is not that serious.I must agree with Greg Schaefer, singer had my attention for a moment, until he stipulates on a certain amount of money ,that Americans should pay. I see no harm in Americans living a comfortable life style, but on the other hand to there is nothing wrong with making a donation”but not all of youe earnings. if Brazilian are so concern about their children, then they need to create a  finiancial plan for their own society and stop trying to figure out what Americans are doing.

Weblog 2: What Do I Want To Know

1. I wonder about aging as a woman. How will that change my whole outlook on life?

2. I am puzzled by the unfairness that takes place in the workplace.

3. I doubt the War will end soon.

4. I’m bothered by our country. America says, We are the richest country, but we can’t help our own poor and homeless.

5. I’m sad that racism still exists.

6. I’m angry about how people can be so judgemental, when they don’t really know you.

7. I’ve always thought of becoming a successful business owner.

8. I’m suprised by the amount of courage that I had within me to return to school.

9. I’m interested in starting my own cake and clothing business.

10. I wish I could be retire now.

11. I worry about not having the necessary finances to meet my daily needs.

12. I’m afraid that if the economy does not get better soon, things will get harder for everyone.

I’m bother  by our country.  America says, it is the richest country, but we can’t help our own homeless and poor.  I know there are many who are homeless and poor within our country, even within our very own neighborhoods.  I have seen the homeless walking the streets seeking food and shelter.

There are not enough shelters and support for our homeless and poor.  On our local news station shelters were being shown closing down, due to not enough funding.  I believe that if the government stops funding other countries and focus on it’s own, our homeless and poor will rise up and have a better life.

I have seen operating shelters. They bring so much help and hope to our homeless and poor. The only way this wouldn’t work, would be if the homeless and poor did not want any help.

This has become interesting to me because I see the homeless and poor daily.  I have seen them seek food and shelter. I hope to discover ways to seek funding for new shelters from our government.  Finding the right resources and people to talk to about government funding may become difficult. I need to learn more about how to seek government funding.

prewriting part 1

1.  I believe that people really don’t care about their fellow man, they only think of themselves.

2. I believe that society can be and  is  very selfish at times.

3. I believe that government does not care about the small man, like you and I. it;s all politics.

4.I believe that justice is not justice, they are unjust and unfair.

5. I believe that knowlegde is the beginning of wisdom, that leads you to higher heights in life.

6. I believe that science is part of the universe, it is amazing.

7. I believe that reality is real and it can feel good, as well as bad , for it is what it is.

8.I believe that life is what you create out it,  you and I, have that option of making the best of it, that choice is up to our decision we make.

9. I believe happiness comes in all sources , some can be for the wrong reasons,  and some for right reason.

10. I believe that goodness is place in everyones heart, as a natural gift, whether we choose to act on it, or, be selfish with it ,that is  totally up to us.

11. I believe that death is real and it is a part, of a resting period  from our earthly bodies. some say we sleep for a period of time, until jugdement day.

12. I believe that God is God, he is the beginning and the ending, he created me  and gave me life, I can speak for me,this is what I choose to believe, no man, can change that.

Prewriting Part 2

I believe happiness comes in all sources, some can be for the wrong reasons, and some for the right reason. happiness makes people, some people smile deep down below in their souls, without, having a lot of material things in their possesions. one may perceive real happiness as receiving a new house,or a new fancy car, even winning the lottery. it makes them feel they are on top of the world.

real happiness comes when you first start loving yourself, learning about you. happiness is when a person can appreciate their own company, whenever you out in the public and you can take yourself out to dinner,or a cup of coffee. you do not need to have a second person with you all the time, to be happy. there is nothing wrong with having company with you, but it’s ok, to be alone.

there are differnt  sorts of things to  have fun bye yourself. I personally don’t think having alot of stuff, will make you have happiness, this is something you have to experience from deep within your heart. happiness is good for your whole total being, when you deal with your coworkers, and the stress you have to cope with, and still leave at the end of your shift able to leave the madness at the office, you are consider a happy person. society sometimes do not know how to be happy, some may whisper whenever you seem to be happy , they may think you are on drugs.

happiness is when you can except people for who they are, even when they seem like they have come from another planet, and you are able to show a smile. happiness is when you treat your neighbor right without confusion. happiness is when you can come home and kick up your feet, watch alittle tv screen and watch a great movie, are when you feel like being creative in the kitchen. some people find that to be such enjoyment and relaxing. so I think happiness comes in so many different ways, and not having alot of material objects. that can disapear but, you’re happy.

Prewriting Part 3

some may say happines  is not real, nor is it neccesary, it’s just mixed emotions.happiness is a fade to some.there are some people in this world today , who have made comments that happiness is a joke, i wander why do they feel that way. I had to put myself in their shoes there times when someone was so close to me, that i found myself really care for them and oneday , that same person brought some bad news to me, that it felt that my heart had spilt open. but i found myself not hating that person, i no longer  trust  them , but i still repect them.

I can see were people can feel in that area, i don’t think you should hold a scrug , but, you don’t let people robe you of your happiness. there are some people who never forgiven, and will not forget. don’t let nothing robe you of your happiness it is not worth losing your joy for.

Reflection: 2

Why I Write

Writing can be fun it can be difficult at times, if you allow it, when writing or, when I “write it allows me to be at ease, writing allows me to express my feelings when, no one else would listen. I love to write, to tell the world what’s’ going on in my life that I wish to be shared. Writing allows me to bring out my deepest inner feelings, when I don’t feel comfortable to say to any one. It’s funny when I began to write, it’s like I get excited especially if it’s good. You know there is an Author who has inspired me to write, to dream on keep dreaming. I use to think that it was weird to dream, it was a big cop out. But I realized it was o.k. to dream, as long as you were trying to fulfill that dream. The book or Author that has inspired me to write who the book “Always Believe in Yourself and Your Dreams” By Blue Mountain Arts, edited by Patricia Wayant this book has so many inspiring words to say to you. I remember the times even now, that I would choose to challenge my dreams, and. I would allow other people to block me, not realizing  that in all actuality they ( the people I communicated  with at that time were not trying to do themselves) So, I decided to pursue my dream , which is to have  my own bake shop and receive a degree in college. You know my dear sweet Mother, before she passed, would always inspire me to go for my dreams, I miss talking to her about my goals, and how I wish she were here, to see my shop open up. After reading Always Believe in yourself and yours dreams, it truly has encouraged my heart, to continue pursuing my goals. I use to think that if you don’t pursue your while you’re in your twenties and thirties, it was to late to have your dreams come to pass, I’m not a shame any more about my age , when it comes to planning my goals. I will never give up on my dreams any more. I will not allow people to stop me from seeking out my dreams, I have learned in life you some times have to encourage yourself. Keep dreaming, girl (self) it’s bound to come to pass if you keep the faith, it will happen. For I know that I have change and have a greater determination.

Devoid of Content: by Stanley Fish Dean emeritus at the University of Illinois at Chicago,” quotes, students cannot write clearly  because (Fish) feels that students are not being taught properly. Fish ,”quotes” that most composition courses that American students take today  emphasize  content rather than form,he also “quotes”  that theory is wrong.

Fish in a Barrel :by Collin Brooke Assistance Professor “quotes I’ll close my little hissy fit here by noting that I don’t doubt that Fish’s students leave his class fully capable of logically coherent sentences.Brooke also “quotes But I can tell you that they don’t lern the latter in his class.Fish continues to say, writing is necessarily the blending of form and content or context.

I somewhat agree with Stanley Fish, when the comment was made by him (Fish) that a lot of students who do graduate, will leave the college not knowing how to write a clear english sentence. But, I don’t agree with him when he says that” students are not being taught”,. You, cannot blame the ” Instructors” , I feel that students are being taught,” it’s” totally up to the student to accept the information, that is set before them. No one can force a student to learn , there also nothing wrong with trying something new.I do agree with ( Brooke ) when he says that you need both, form and content to create  good grammar, however,Brooke stress a good point that it was absurd for Fish, to think that the only way one can write is by form only, I disagree . I think they” Fisher and Brooke both stress some good points, but, I must agree with Brooke eveyone will not leave college not knowing how to produce a good English essay, we all have different styles of learning.there are still a lot of good english Instructors in this country {American) who are well cabable of inspiring students, to become good  english scholars.

According to the the publishing industry, choosing Stephen King ,  seem to be the appropriate thing to do for the best strategic writer. well, according to Mr. Bloom, Stephen King should have not received anything, he insist on being a real critic ( a jerk ) of course, belitting Kings writing. Bloom feels the publishing industry only recognized” him” ( King ) as the   commerical money maker. which of course is some what true, King did very well in the industry,it brought in millions. but, old man Bloom says in other words ” king is decrating other great authors whom he feels like they should had been awarded.

Now on the other hand, bloom insultingly speaks against the american readers,  by saying “we are decreasing our  ability to good reading ,we should be reading shakesbeard and who ever else that is out of time, according to Almond, he as stated that Bloom basic point is that the National Book Foundation made a egregious error, in bestowing its annual award for ” distinguished contribution” to Stephen King. Almond also stated that he did not totally disagree with  Bloom, because he himself did not read the harry potter book,so,he ( Almond) feels that the merits King received is not the point here.. the point, is Bloom was full of insults, Bloom, attack the writers when he should have been encouraging new writers.

My opinion I feel that Bloom is well out of date ,he also need to realize that we are not in the eighteen century, what was well accepted back in his( Bloom ) days, and the audience or readers shall i say enjoyed, is not what today society is craving for. He ( Bloom) is a grumbie old man,and his homeboys, they need to be very supportive or encouraging to the new modern writers. we have many good writers today, I may not read Stephen king books,But, that does not give me the right to belittle a great writer. there are people in american who loves to read, I am one of them, what I choose to read may not be what some one else desire to read.the society we live in needs to read , daily, it helps the mind ,the spirit, the soul. So bloom just need to go and have a glass of ice tea, and let these new writer continue to write out the gift that is in them.
